After I bought Xiaomi Redmi Router AX6s, It felt sucks when I couldn't use their 5Ghz on my MacBook pro. But it is easy to solve!

REDMI WIFI6

The issues come with wifi location and country ID conflicts from implementing 802.11d.

If different wifi Access points are broadcasting cross country's ID, Mac OS may shut down specific frequencies.

The solution is relatively easy.

Go to:
Apple Menu → system preferences → Security & Privacy → Location Services → Click the lock to make a change →Scroll down till you find System devices → Click on Details → UNCHECK Networking and Wireless

After that, macOS will bypass 802.11d implementation, then deactivate and active your wifi; the 5ghz will show up immediately.

How do I make sure that the connection is 5GHZ?

It's easy! Just click the WIFI icon at the top bar while holding the option key on your keyboard. You will see there is 5Ghz on the channel sections.

Bonus
If you are facing issues that some smartphone device can't connect to your router with 5Ghz, you need to change your router channel to 157

Enjoy! I hope this help!
